With the connection to OTTO, Thalia is expanding its reach in online retail and is now making its book assortment available via one of Germany’s highest-reach marketplaces. The technical basis is FIS/TradeFlex. The SAP-integrated solution is already in use at Thalia for other marketplaces and makes it possible to connect new sales channels in a structured and efficient way. For the launch on OTTO, the relevant information between SAP and the marketplace is processed automatically – from item data and offers to prices and availability, through to payment processing directly in SAP.
“The connection to OTTO shows how important stable and expandable marketplace processes have become for digital sales,” says Dirk Schneider, Managing Director of FIS Informationssysteme und Consulting GmbH. “We are pleased to be able to support Thalia with this step as well. The fact that FIS/TradeFlex is being used here again confirms the added value of a solution that enables new marketplaces to be connected to SAP quickly.”
The repeated use of an established marketplace solution pays off in particular: Processes do not have to be completely rethought for every new channel, but can be expanded on a proven basis. This allows additional marketplaces to be connected more quickly, while significantly reducing the workload of operational processes in day-to-day business.
With FIS/TradeFlex, FIS supports companies in managing their marketplace business directly from SAP. The solution forms the interface between the SAP system and online marketplaces and ensures that data is processed consistently, automatically and across channels. For companies with a multichannel strategy, this creates a reliable basis for efficiently opening up new sales channels.
