As part of the transition to a modern SAP S/4HANA ERP system, the long-established Franconian company turned to the IT service provider FIS, also based in Franconia. During the transition to S/4 HANA, the decision was made to replace the former SAP WM with SAP EWM. This is particularly suitable due to Rösler’s complex supply chain logistics and the resulting requirements. The successful go-live in October 2025 also included the implementation of an AutoStore warehouse system. “For the AutoStore hardware in conjunction with a modern SAP Extended Warehouse Management system, agile and intelligent SAP integration is essential for the AutoStore to achieve its full added value,” says Christian Toth, Specialized Sales Warehouse & Transport Solutions at FIS.
Rösler owns its own fleet and uses freight forwarders, air, sea, and container freight, for its transport planning. To ensure efficient use of its transport resources, Rösler decided to switch to SAP TM, another SAP-based transport planning solution, during the project’s progress. The advantage of the two solutions is that they work perfectly synchronized, resulting in seamless integration of SAP EWM and SAP TM with Advanced Shipping & Receiving in the order processing process.
“With the transition to S/4 HANA and the associated optimization of the entire supply chain, we hope to achieve complete digital transparency and automated logistics processes. These offer great potential for more efficient use of our resources, cost savings, and greater flexibility for our customers,” adds Marcus Henkel, Head of Central IT Services at Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH.
