SAP PI/PO is Discontinued – FIS Offers Migration Support for Succession Solution

07/20/2023
In the foreseeable future, SAP will discontinue the maintenance for its Process Integration (PI) and Process Orchestration (PO). Therefore, it is now time to migrate to a succession solution, such as SAP Integration Suite. FIS Informationssysteme und Consulting GmbH provides companies with the corresponding support and even offers a separate tool for business process integration alternatively or in addition to the SAP solution: FIS/xee.

In 2027, SAP will discontinue the maintenance for its Process Integration (PI) and Process Orchestration (PO). Therefore, the migration to a succession solution, such as SAP Integration Suite, is mandatory. However, it also offers new opportunities for the Business Suite solution is the strategic platform of SAP that includes all innovative power. In addition, the suite offers a permanently increasing pool of predefined solutions (predefined content) companies can use to implement new topics with high speed. To bring the migration to a succession solution to a successful and high-quality end without time pressure, FIS recommends that companies start project planning now.

“The initial aim is to analyze the existing integration landscape and design solutions for the future,” as the procedure is described by Matthias Kral, manager of the FIS Consulting Business Process Integration team.  Kral and his team are experts in this field because they have a high level of integration knowledge and are very familiar both with SAP PI/PO and SAP Integration Suite. “We provide our customers with know-how from a single source,” says the team manager. Moreover, the FIS repertoire of tools also includes the FIS/xee solution customers can use alternatively or in addition to SAP Integration Suite. Kral: “With FIS/xee Next Generation, we offer our customers the on-premise variant of an ESB solution optimized for the S/4 world – and, in the future, we also offer the FIS/xee Cloud solution for on-demand integrations of business partners.”

FIS defines a toolbox of integration tools together with the customers. The next step is to create and structure a system landscape by using a technology map and formulating use case patterns. “It is a matter of using uniform integration methods in order to optimize the maintenance and administration of the IT landscape,” explains Kral.

For the assessment, FIS uses the “business process integration health check”, which is based on the “ISA-M” methodology by SAP, and then starts the implementation. “Usually, we recommend that the new system is created in parallel to the old one in order to migrate the integration scenarios to the new landscape in several waves,” says Kral.

The end of the migration does not mean the end of the partnership between the customer and FIS: The support team permanently assists the landscape, is able to implement scenarios independently at peak times and carry out regular tasks, such as monitoring and troubleshooting. Kral: “We are a long-term partner for our customers.”
