At FIS Academy, we have created an office world, where apprentices, dual system students and trainees work together and can learn from each other. This integrated vocational training promotes networking and lays the foundation for successful cooperation between consulting and development at an early stage.
At our FIS Academy, we live the concept of desk sharing. This means that you do not have a permanent desk but can choose a new desk every morning. As a consequence, you are flexible every day and can sit with your team members for group works for instance. You can keep your personal items, such as laptop or notebook, in your private locker. It goes without saying that FIS Academy is also equipped with height-adjustable desks and ergonomic desk chairs.
Our “Design Thinking Room” for creative meetings is located right next to FIS Academy.
You can spend your breaks in one of our kitchens, in our break room or our staff restaurant.
At FIS, we believe that work should adapt to your life – not the other way around. For this reason, we offer our employees various measures to improve their work-life balance.
Mobile working Thanks to the option of mobile working up to three days a week, you are flexible in your choice of work location. This is the ideal way to combine family and career.
Individual working time models A 40-hour week is not a requirement for us. Your working hours can be tailored to your personal needs.
Flexible working hours With us, you can organize your working hours flexibly and work off overtime just as freely. This is based on independent, comprehensive recording of working and travel times.
Extended parental leave After the birth of your child, you can decide for yourself how long you want to take parental leave.
Support when returning to work After parental leave, we will support you when you return to work with training if necessary and give you enough time to get used to your new job.
Childcare on the Day of Prayer and Repentance Classes for pupils are canceled on the Day of Prayer and Repentance. To ensure that your child is still well looked after, we offer in-house childcare.
Subsidized childcare during the summer holidays During the summer vacations, we will help you and your family with childcare. To this end, we work together with the summer children of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung beruflicher und sozialer Integration (gfi) gGmbH in Schweinfurt and cover most of the costs for you.
Subsidy for child sick days If your child is ill and you use your statutory health insurance’s child sick days for care, FIS will pay the difference between the child sickness benefit and your lost gross pay. For the care of privately insured children, FIS pays an allowance of a comparable amount.
Care pilot Our company care pilot is on hand to answer any questions you may have about caring for family members.
Compatibility progress index – Success factor family We are part of it!
In order to promote a family-friendly corporate culture, FIS takes part in the Progress Index for Compatibility data collection. FIS performs above average in areas such as “Proportion of employees with flexible working time arrangements that can be shaped”, “Proportion of men with voluntary part-time work” and “Average length of parental leave for mothers”. We also promote other measures in our company that encourage a family-friendly culture.

Creative thinking, swift channels, flat hierarchies and open doors: it is easy to talk about all this. The point, however, is to follow words with deeds. The way we at FIS are doing this has a lot to do with our self-conception: as a family-run company, we remain true to our values, reward performance with numerous above-average benefits and count on social commitment. An attitude we actually take for granted, but which has already brought us various awards.
If you have any unanswered questions about a job advertisement or generally about joining FIS, you can contact our hr team at any time, also by phone. We hope that we have sparked your interest and would be delighted if, after a positive review of your application, we can introduce you to joining FIS in a personal conversation at the company headquarters.

Have you successfully graduated from school and are you now looking for an exciting training occupation with a future? Join our IT company and do your vocational training as an IT specialist for application development! In the following, you will find out what makes this profession special and why you should complete your vocational training with us.
What are the typical tasks of an IT specialist for application development?
The tasks of an IT specialist for application development are very varied and do not only consist of computer tasks. The core task of the IT specialist for application development is the development and optimization of software and applications for customers. Since we are a consulting company for SAP projects, you will mainly focus on customer-specific adjustments of the SAP applications. SAP is a software application in the business-management environment that enables companies to map their business processes digitally. You and your colleagues exactly examine the customers’ requirements and wishes and analyze the operational processes and general conditions of the companies. You will then design and program an IT solution that meets the requirements. After programming, you have to test your applications intensively and check them against possible errors. If all bugs are fixed, the software solution can be installed in the customer’s system. Afterwards, one of your tasks will be to train the users of the software and prepare these trainings yourself. Furthermore, you create a manual that supports users in applying the software.
What do you learn during your vocational training as an IT specialist for application development?
During your vocational training, we prepare you comprehensively for the tasks described. This is why you will learn different programming languages, such as Java or C#, and find out which language is suitable for which application. As an SAP partner, we work intensively with the ABAP programming language specially developed by SAP. You will also learn how to use programming logics and methods and what to pay attention to when testing systems. We will show you how to inform and advise customers and create customized documentations on the application solutions.
What are the prerequisites for the vocational training as an IT specialist for application development?
With a good secondary school report, advanced technical college entrance qualification or university-entrance diploma, you qualify for a vocational training as an IT specialist for application development.
Good grades and fun in the computer science, mathematics and English school subjects may be helpful during your vocational training. Since you learn all the important skills during your vocational training, we do not require any programming experience.
The must-have qualities of an IT specialist are a conscientious and structured “coding” approach. Good abstract logical thinking and creativity also help you with programming. You should also have stamina in debugging in the source code and communication skills in dealing with colleagues and customers.
What does the vocational training as an IT specialist for application development look like at FIS?
The vocational training to become an IT specialist is a dual training program: You learn the theoretical basics at vocational school in Haßfurt and gain practical experience in the training company. The vocational training usually lasts three years, but can also be shortened to two and a half years in case of particularly good performance.
Instruction at vocational school takes place in blocks. This means that you will alternately attend vocational school for one or two weeks and then spend four to six weeks applying your theoretical knowledge in practice in the company. At vocational school, you will have both general education subjects, such as English or business administration and job-related subjects, such as application programming, network technology or project management. You will find out more about the exact course of your vocational training below.
In your first week of training, you will be welcomed by your training supervisors and the management board. Various organizational topics are discussed, such as recording your working hours or keeping your report booklet. You will also receive your laptop that you will need for your future tasks. Our training camp takes place at the end of the first week. Here, you can get to know your instructors, the trainees from the other training years as well as the students of the dual study program. Various teambuilding activities and a fun time await you.
In your second week of training, you get to know your vocational school in Haßfurt and your new teachers. In your third week, you really start off. Now, the focus is on building up the basic knowledge that is urgently needed to practice the profession. We teach you theoretical software basics on data modelling and Web development (HTML and CSS) as well as on principles of data modelling and program development. You will also learn the first programming languages, such as Java, Java Script and C#, as well as modern project management methods such as Scrum. Your curriculum also includes general introductory topics ranging from marketing and consulting to sales and distribution. You get to know these areas in practice during various rotations through the respective departments. This way you get a deep and comprehensive insight into the company, meet many colleagues and can therefore build a good network. At the end of the first training year, you will be able to use the knowledge you have acquired up to that point together with your fellow trainees and program a practice-oriented application.
In the second training year, you will get to know the various development departments at FIS. Our development departments deal with different products and use different development technologies and program languages. During the rotations, you can get to know the learned programming languages and the colleagues in the individual departments particularly well and already consider which department will be your preferred one for your further training. In addition, the first part of the final examination at the CCI (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) is scheduled for the middle of the second training year. The result is included in your final grade.
You will spend your third training year permanently in one of the development departments that you already got to know during your second training year. While in the second training year, you trained your acquired knowledge mainly in the form of exercises, you are now allowed to work on real customer projects. In addition, at the end of the third year, you take the second part of your final examination at the CCI. After passing the written and oral exams, you officially bear the title “IT Specialist for Application Development”.
After completing your training What career opportunities do you have?
After completing your vocational training, you have learned all the skills and knowledge you need as an IT specialist for application development. If you perform well, you will be offered an open-ended employment and can support your software developer colleagues.
You will complete your training program with us together with other trainees. You go to professional school together, do group work and prepare for exams. In the team, the fun at work does not come too briefly either. Furthermore, colleagues with many years of experience and extensive know-how in the IT industry are always available to assist you.
100% pass rate
We prepare you ideally for the first and second part of your final exam. It is therefore not surprising that all trainees have passed their exams with flying colors in recent years.
Good opportunities for a permanent position
As a trainee, you will learn everything you need for your future working life. It goes without saying that you will be offered an open-ended employment after your vocational training if you perform well.

SAP developers are real IT experts who are specialized in the SAP business software. They analyze development orders, develop software solutions and are in constant exchange with their colleagues, the consultants and their customers. In the following, you will get all relevant information on what you may expect as an SAP developer at FIS.
You can find more exciting job offers for SAP Developer here.
What are the typical tasks of an SAP Developer?
As an SAP developer, you develop customer-specific modifications of the SAP systems or program individual FIS solutions. For the implementation, you analyze the tasks from the development orders and design and implement the technical solutions, adaptations and enhancements. You integrate new SAP applications into the customer’s existing system and develop optimizations for existing SAP modules.
Since customers often face similar challenges, you also create FIS template solutions that can be implemented in the customer’s system in just a few steps and consequently quickly generate added value. In addition, you will maintain the customer’s running system, perform error analyses and fix them.
As an SAP ABAP developer, you create test plans and test drafts of the developed program together with the customer’s consultants and employees. You evaluate them afterwards in order to make further adjustments and modifications if necessary. You also provide support for release upgrades and implement legal changes in the applications. During the entire development and adaptation process, quality assurance in the form of technical documentations is an important task.
You will do your work mainly in your office at the FIS headquarters in Grafenrheinfeld or in one of our branch offices in Leonberg or Offenbach. However, you should also be willing to travel as you will also travel to customer meetings, depending on the project and task focus. Together with your colleagues from the Consulting and Support departments, you will work as a team to achieve the best possible results for the customers.
The IT sector is fast moving and there are constant innovations and changes. That is why it is especially important to train yourself regularly and keep your knowledge up to date. This makes it easy for you to track down new trends to create a solution that will delight the customer.
There are various ways to qualify for a career as an SAP developer. Many developers who work at FIS have, for instance, trained with us as an IT specialist for application development. Others joined FIS after their studies in computer science or business informatics. In addition, you can also complete a dual study program in the field of business informatics together with FIS.
You ideally have practical experience in software development and are familiar with various programming languages. The most important language for SAP developers are the ABAP and ABAP OO languages developed by SAP. However, other programming languages, such as JavaScript and SAP UI5, are also relevant for SAP developers. You should also be familiar with techniques such as XML and HTML. In addition to programming skills, business-management know-how helps you to understand and implement the requirements of the software in the best possible way.
As an SAP developer, you are characterized by a logical way of thinking paired with good abstraction skills. You carry out your tasks in consultation and as part of a team with your colleagues and customers, so team spirit and reliability are among your strengths. You have a good command of English so that you can easily understand English codes and manuals. We also regularly have English-language projects with international customers. You should also have an affinity for IT and a passion for process automation.
Your career at FIS Entry and development opportunities
Depending on how much work experience you already have, you can join us at different career levels. After your training or graduation, you can start as a Junior Developer at FIS and advance to a Senior Developer. You then have the opportunity to choose between a specialist or management career path.
Why would you work as an SAP Developer at FIS?
Especially in the context of digital transformation, the optimization and digitization of business processes is not only an ever faster moving trend, but absolutely necessary for companies to keep pace.
